On Confessions of a Dance Floor, Madonna, the most popular and significant female artist in pop music, returns unapologetically to her roots. A stunning blend of musical styles with one foot in early disco and the other pointed toward the future, Confessions On A Dance Floor "is all about having a good time straight through and non-stop," says the Material Mom, who co-wrote and co-produced every track. For Madonna and music fans everywhere, the all-dance, no-ballad Confessions on a Dance Floor is a welcome guilty pleasure.
Apparently there's nothing in Kabbalah that disallows sweaty, head-spinningly good dance music, because here comes a flame-haired Madonna hawking a dozen songs' worth:
Confessions on a Dance Floor darts seamlessly from Madge's early days, when she emerged as the genre's enduring darling, through the political, kiddie, and acoustic pap that drove a wedge between her and early adopters of the fingerless glove look. Songs like the pop-leaning "Jump" and first single "Hung Up"--an adrenaline drip on high that, like many of these tracks, will inspire mild shame among those who've thrilled to the much thinner disco-dusted outpourings of younger divas recently--represent both a return to form and an unmistakable march into the future. "Get Together" is a sonic freak-out in the best sense; "Push" traffics in gut-level futuristic trance; and "Forbidden Love" loops in '80s blips and bleeps for a follow-me-into-the-past effect that's both neo and retro. For all the image-affirming innovations here, though, these confessions find Madonna framed in her share of reflective moments too. "Was it all worth it/How did I earn it?" she asks on "How High," a song featuring vocoder. "Nobody's perfect/I guess I deserve it," comes the answer. A later lyrical inquiry is left for the listener to judge: "Does this get any better?" Madonna wants to know. But that opens the door to a dizzying proposition. Few of us would have guessed, after all, that it got this good.

"Best dance music" 2010-08-31By
Zeta Tsatsani (Greece)
I did not like Madonna when she started in the early 80s. After Ray of Light, I started thinking she was a serious artist, a music chameleon.
Confessions on the Dancefloor, is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. There is not one song that I did not like.
A lot of energetic, uplifting, modern dance music with a 70s touch. I listened to the CD till it melted. I bought it twice. With this CD she became one of my favorite pop artists ever. She is the Queen of pop, no doubt about that.

I'm primarily a book reviewer (and author), so you won't get musical or technical analysis with this review.
All I can say is that I've listened to Madonna since the 80s (I was born in 1970), and this is her BEST CD ever in my opinion.
It reminds me of the music we used to listen to at roller rinks--a fusion of 70s disco and 80s poppiness and 90s insistent beat...with 21 Century techno tricks that makes this music sounds "old school", but fresh.
I love every song on this CD, and so does my family. Whether it's playing on the family stereo or in the car via mp3 player, we're always bobbing our heads, singing along or tapping our feet to Confessions on a Dance Floor.
I homeschool my 11 year old and I just asked him to put something upbeat in; he (wisely) chose this CD. We're listening to it now!
Immensely listenable, utterly enjoyable and very danceable (even spiritual, especially with Isaac)--you will no doubt this wonderful CD...even if you're not a die-hard Madonna fan. If I were allowed only 5 CDs (you know, desert island scenarior)--one would be Confessions on a Dance Floor.

"In The Evidence Of Its Brilliance...." 2010-08-18By

Okay, so I'm officially tardy to the party, but that's okay too. Since I have written reviews for all of Madonna's albums many years ago, I figure I should write reviews for her most recent albums as well. So, here is my review of 2005's "Confessions On A Dance Floor." As much as it pains me to say this in hindsight since I am such a huge fan of Madonna, this wasn't one of my favorite Madonna albums when it first came out. I guess I was expecting "American Life Part II" or something. I honestly loved (still love) "American Life," and I think I was in my "I can only like serious non-dance music" phase or something. What was wrong with me? Well, I've outgrown that, and this album has seriously grown on me in the past few years. But enough about me, onto the music! This is from start to finish a stellar dance record. Madonna teams with Stewart Price, and they create magic, plain and simple. I've heard this album described as "ABBA on drugs, " which I think fits. The album starts of with a bang with the classic song "Hung Up," and just keeps going. Madonna and Stuart Price's decision to sample ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" was a stroke of pure genius. I think they also sampled Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" in the song "Future Lovers." Throughout the album the melodies are genius, and Madonna is in top vocal form, and truly in her element. Honestly, this album has not aged a day since November 2005. In my case, it's only gotten better with time. I now rank it a very cushy sixth on my list of Madonna's albums. Now, that's pretty darn good. This is truly a must own. Buy it, and get ready to hit the dance floor!
1. Hung Up: This song is classic Madonna. Wonderful sample of the ABBA song, and Madonna's vocals make it pure pop perfection. Just classic! (5/5)
2. Get Together: I didn't like this song a lot at first, but it has seriously grown on me. (4.5/5)
3. Sorry: I like this song a lot. It's very fun and catchy. (5/5)
4. Future Lovers: I freaking LOVE this song! Madonna's vocals and the melody push it over the top. I love the way Madonna sings the lyric "In the evidence of its brilliance." Perfection! (5/5)
5. I Love New York: Not Madonna's best song lyrically, but her attitude and sass make it fun. The "Confessions Tour" version is better in my opinion, though. (4.5/5)
6. Let It Will Be: This a really good song, and I like it a lot. (4.5/5)
7. Forbidden Love: This is another really good song, and Madonna sings it very well. Madonna also had a song on her 1994 "Bedtime Stories" album called "Forbidden Love" which I honestly preferred, though. (4.5/5)
8. Jump: This is another classic Madonna song. Great throbbing beat, and Madonna's vocals are fantastic. (5/5)
9. How High: I've always really liked this song. I think the melody is great. (4.5/5)
10. Isaac: This song has really grown on me over time. It is quite catchy. (4/5)
11. Push: This is my least favorite song on the album. It's good, just not my favorite. (3.5/5)
12. Like It Or Not: This is a very good song, and a great way to close the album. The lyrics are especially strong in my opinion. (4.5/5)
Overall: (4.54/5)
"Really Great Album" 2010-07-19By

This is a great Madonna album. So many songs are fantastic. Favorite songs are: Hung Up, Get Together, Let It Will Be, Forbidden Love, Jump, Isaac, Push and Like it or Not (9 out of 12!) But in reality, I think all the songs are good.
I don't think it gets enough credit.
She is the QUEEN!!!
